GARDEN CLUB NEWS
The Garden Club has had a busy summer touring the gardens & allotments around Lincolnshire.
As the days are becoming shorter we return to our Autumn Programme with talks at the Memorial Hall.
The first of these will be given by David Hopkins and his subject will be "My vegetable Patch". We hope to hear of his successes this year and some tips on how to improve our own garden patches. We understand that last year he managed to produce 57 Varieties of potatoes. We look forward to seeing what he has produced this year! The talk will be at 7.30 on Wednesday 24th. September in the Memorial Hall. The following month there will be a talk entitled "Magic Roundabouts" by Gail Summerfield. Guests are always welcome at a small cost of £2 per person

PETTICOAT CLUB
Jayne Allenby came along to our September meeting to introduce us to her family of teddy bears; all handmade, with tender loving care! She's been making bears for collectors, for the past 13 years and each one has its own name and character. The fabric itself determines the age and style of the bear depending on the length and texture of the pile and it was interesting to see the different types of mohair and alpaca that are used. We watched a particularly "old gentleman" taking shape and we all wanted to take him home at the end of a very entertaining evening. Our own treasured bears then joined in with us to celebrate Marie Taylor's 90th birthday and we all enjoyed the cake!
A quick reminder for November. We will be having our usual cake stall at the Xmas Bazaar in the Memorial Hall on Saturday 8th November. Cakes (home-made or bought) and help on the stall would be very much appreciated.
Also our annual Charity Coffee Morning will be held at Gill Grace's house, Anvil Cottage, on Tuesday 18th November. Full details to follow but we would again be very grateful for any raffle or tombola prizes. The charity we are supporting this year is the Gifts Hospice in Sleaford.
Our next meeting will be at 7.30pm on Wednesday 8th October when Terry Grantham will be sharing his experiences of being an evacuee. I'm sure many of you will also have interesting tales to tell. Do come along - we are always pleased to welcome new members and guests.
